Holiday weekends are all about ENTERTAINING. Enjoy a few of our FAVORITE recipes!

BEER CAN CHICKEN

If you want to be the envy of your neighbors the Independence Day, make beer can chicken! This recipe is so easy and yet it makes a juicy, tender and delicious barbecued chicken that your family and friends will just love.

How to Make Beer Can Chicken:

  • Step 1: Turn on both sides of your barbecue grill, getting it nice and hot
  • Step 2: Clean your chicken, rub it down generously with oil then season it liberally inside and out. We like to us Montreal Chicken Spice to save time or you can choose to make your own
  • Step 3: Pop open a cold one and drink half - you need to leave some beer in the can
  • Step 4: Place the beer can into the chicken being careful not to spill the beer. The bird should be standing up nice and tall on the beer can
  • Step 5: Cover the legs and wing tips with foil so they don't burn
  • Step 6: Turn one side of the barbecue off, placing the chicken on that side (so it's getting indirect heat)
  • Step 7: Close the lid and do not open it for one hour (no peeking)
  • Step 8: After 1 hour, peek inside and see how the bird looks. It should be crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside
  • Step 9: Once the bird is cooked fully, serve & enjoy (with more beer of course)

SANGRIA, SANGRIA!

The BEST Sangria recipe I've been able to hone to perfection! If you like a sweeter Sangria, use ginger ale in place of club soda.

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup brandy

1/4 cup lemon juice

1/3 cup frozen lemonade concentrate

1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine

1/2 cup triple sec

1 lemon, sliced into rounds

1 orange, sliced into rounds

1 lime, sliced into rounds

1/4 cup sugar (optional)

8 maraschino cherries

2 cups club soda or ginger ale

DIRECTIONS:

In a large pitcher or bowl, mix together the brandy, lemon juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice, red wine, triple sec, and sugar. Float slices of lemon, orange and lime, and maraschino cherries in the mixture. Refrigerate overnight for the best flavor. For a fizzy sangria, add club soda just before serving. ENJOY!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with fun, laughter and joy shared with your family and friends!

Blessings and joy,

Debi
